As far as plugins go, our engineering team is working right now on giving the control to you, the subscriber : )  We can't give you an exact date, but it's right around the corner.  Keep your eyes open for the AWESOMENESS!  Until then, we DO install and uninstall plugins manually as a curtsey for our customers.  So sleep easy, knowing that we will take care of the details of those have-to-have plugins, for the time being.  We are happy to be at your service!
